Why Create the Mental Health Therapist Hub?

After years of classes, internships, part-time jobs, and loans, I thought I knew everything I needed to know to navigate the social work and mental health field. However, I quickly learned that the book knowledge and lived experience I had did not inevitably mean I knew how to negotiate a salary or know what to ask when interviewing a supervisor.

It was disappointing and created a fear that I did not think I could experience…

In figuring It out, I did a great deal of research, completed more extensive training, built a group private practice, and became an adjunct professor…

As I teach, supervise interns, and support new professionals, I realize that very little has changed regarding my experiences. There is so much new mental health therapists don’t know as we get ready to graduate. Now, I want to change that.

The purpose of the Mental Health Therapist Hub is to create a range of accessible self-paced resources and consultation opportunities on this site and throughout our social media that help new and transitioning mental health therapists ask the right questions and create the careers of their dreams.

We shouldn’t be making the same mistakes over and over. It’s time that we point new and transitioning clinicians; social workers, marriage & family therapists, counselors, psychologists, etc. in the right direction.

Meet Josie!

Hi! I’m Josie! It is wonderful to meet you! Thanks so much for checking out The Mental Health Therapist Hub! I am excited for you to explore our offerings and hopefully find what you need!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker

  • I have completed all the graduate training, licensure hours, and exams needed to be a clinician and licensed clinical social worker in the state of Colorado.

I am a Marriage & Family Therapist Candidate and Addiction Counseling Candidate

  • I am still right there with you! I am taking classes to become an addictions counselor and working the hours necessary to become an LMFT(Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist). I am still in biweekly supervision for these licenses; this sharpens my skill and makes me a better clinician daily! The process of licensure is tough, but as I work on this goal, It becomes more and more worth It to me!

I am a Mental Health Trauma Therapist, Group Practice Owner, and Clinical Supervisor

  • I see clients and supervisees who want to work through understanding the impacts of identity-based and relationship-based trauma on a personal and professional level. Being in the work makes me a better clinician every day

I am an Adjunct Professor in Social Work

  • I teach graduate-level courses in Social Work. Even though the core of this role is to teach, I have found myself mentoring and supporting them on their paths to becoming social workers and therapists.
