Our Story, Our Beginning, Our Mission.

Hello and welcome to the Mental Health Resource Hub, better known as the Mental Health Therapist Hub! My name is Josephine, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist candidate, Addictions Counseling candidate, Group Practice Owner, Adjunct Professor, and clinical supervisor for social workers and counselors in Colorado. Along with these professional identities, I am, more importantly, a wife, soon-to-be mom of twin girls, sister, aunt, friend, cousin, daughter, and so much more.

Four years ago, I graduated with my Master’s in Social Work and was finishing up my Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction. As a new social worker, I had very little knowledge of what it meant to be a social worker outside of being a student. Yes, it was in the middle of a global pandemic (2020); however, there was so much that I had to discover through making mistakes, hitting roadblocks, and generally struggling. It was incredibly difficult and felt very lonely at times. It made me question whether I was in the right field and whether the many sacrifices I made to finish this first degree were even worth it. As I emerged from that phase and began to discover the work in mental health that brought me the most joy, I never wanted anyone coming behind me to experience what I experienced. Because of this, I always knew I wanted to create resources that would help others succeed. How would I do it? I had no idea, but I knew that it was the way I wanted to give back to other therapists, especially those who held minoritized identities like myself.

Along with my personal experiences, I began to hear many stories from other therapists, particularly from people of color, first-generation citizens of the United States (like me!), and folks who are part of the LGBTQIA+ communities, that it felt like their was so much they did not know. I learned that the very roadblocks, confusion, and loneliness I faced were not unique to me but were common experiences for many others. It quickened my desire to learn so I could ultimately teach. As I progressed in the field and gained more experience, I saw this deep gap in professional knowledge with each intern I supervised and the therapists who wanted to transition in their careers. It felt like, in many of these situations, folks were looking out into an abyss, not knowing where to start or where to find a compiled and comprehensive list of resources.

I decided to create the Mental Health Resource Hub/DBA: Mental Health Therapist Hub because of these continued stories, from myself and others. The Mental Health Therapist Hub is a compilation of comprehensive resources new therapists and therapists in times of transition can use to find tools for reflection, resources for staying organized, and tools that will help propel and create sustainable long-term careers in mental health. I hope that when you open a resource, you can breathe a sigh of relief, gain the AHA moment you need, and feel incredibly empowered, knowing that you have a tool that will help you build a sustainable life. As you build a sustainable life, those around you who love and care about you will experience joy and peace along with you.

I am thrilled that you stopped by and am so grateful for your support of this passion project! I hope that in finding what you need, you share what I create with others so we can all grow together.
